Preschool Ages
Currently, St. Philip does not offer a formal preschool formation program. However, there are many simple and life-giving practices families can participate in as The Domestic Church, to help form preschool age children in the Catholic faith. We are here to support you!
1. If you don't already do so, pray daily with your child. Here are some suggestions...- Teach your child how to make the Sign of the Cross
- Pray before meals
- Pray at bedtime
- Pray for others in your circle of family and friends
- Begin learning some of the traditional Catholic prayers: The Our Father, The Hail Mary and The Glory Be; Teach them how to pray The Rosary
2. Take your child to weekly Mass. Arranging childcare for littles when parents attend Mass is totally understandable. Be sure to begin exposing them to Mass later in the preschool years, if they've never gone before, so your little one can become familiar with the routine of Mass.
3. Visit Formed.org and take advantage of the many Catholic movies, shows and books available for your child. St. Philip's has paid for a free subscription for every family. Choose 75068 in the drop down menu and set up your own account when you login for the first time. Some suggestions for preschoolers are: The Adventure of Carlos Caterpillar, Brother Francis, Cat Chat for Kids and The Saints and Heroes Collection.
4. Get your child involved in service to others. They are never too young to learn to give to those less fortunate! Some ideas are: Donating toys to a local Women's shelter or charity, donating clothing, or helping an elderly family member or neighbor. Sometimes just asking them how they'd like to help others is eye opening to a parent.
5. Get a Church Liturgical Calendar to hang in your home. Point out where we are in the Church year. Some books for living the Church year at home are: The Catholic All Year Compendium; Liturgical Living for Real Life by Kiendra Tierney, and Children's Liturgical Calendar Activity Book by Donece McCleary. There are many Catholic blogs and websites for great suggestions on living the liturgical year, including Catholic Icing, and Look to Him and Be Radiant.
6. Most importantly, let your little ones ask you questions about God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, Mary, the Saints and Angels. If you don't know the answer, the best response is, "That's a great question! I'm going to find the answer for you!" and give us a call or go to the Catholic answers website. The more comfortable your children get in coming to you with their Faith questions, the more they will grow in confidence in letting you lead them closer to Jesus.

Kindergarten-first Grade
For parents of Kindergarten and First Graders these are wonderful years for your child in their growing faith. Families are The Domestic Church, where all learning has taken place since birth. You chose the Catholic faith for your child at Baptism and have modeled your faith by praying and attending Mass with them.
For families that would like to learn more on how you can foster your child's faith, we will meet together, in Parent/Child classes.
Please provide these basic supplies for your child/ren, which they will need to bring to every class:

Third-Fifth grades
Classes are for 3rd-5th graders, who have received the sacraments of Confession and Communion. Classes reach all learning styles, with supplemental videos and activities so that students continue to grow in their faith and have community with other children. Classes are taught on a three-year cycle: Year 1 - Salvation History, Year 2 - The Mass, Sacraments, and Prayer; Year 3 - the Miracles, Parables, and Teachings of Christ. This year, we are in Year 2.
Enrollment begins June 27. You will choose one day/time per child: Sundays 6:15 - 7:30 PM; Tuesdays 4:30 - 5:45 PM; Wednesdays 5:15 - 6:30 PM; OR Wednesdays 7:15 - 8:30 PM.

Catholic Camp - 2026
Monday, July 13 - Friday, July 17 - Camp hours: 9 AM - 1 PM.

Experience Sacred Art, Music, and the Rosary, along with games, morning snack, daily crafts, and daily Mass. Confessions will be available Tuesday - Friday. Campers will bring lunches Monday - Thursday; pizza lunch provided on Friday. Fun splash games for Friday!
Cost: $60/first child; $120 for two or more children, Grades 1-6.

We realize that all children learn differently, and that all children have their own individual needs. If your child needs special assistance of any kind, please make us aware of those needs. By sharing this information, we can then modify class material, recruit additional aides, or advise the catechist of your child's learning differences. Safe Environment Policies
Anyone having contact with our children and youth in Formation is required to fulfill the Diocese of Fort Worth's Safe Environment program. This includes a Volunteer Ministry Application with references, a criminal background check, and attendance of a Safe Environment Awareness Session. After the initial session, volunteers must attend a renewal session every two years. Visit our Safe Environment page for more information.
