In early planning studies for the new Parish Hall, the people of St. Philip expressed a strong desire for a place dedicated to Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. With the ongoing success of our Forward in Faith Capital Campaign, this vision is becoming a reality in the proposed Oratory of the Sacred Heart.
Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the sign and symbol of the immense love with which God loves us, is called “the highest expression of Christian piety.”The new Oratory will be a place to suitably give honor to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus in our parish. In this place, we will offer love and even reparation to Our Lord’s wounded Heart by adoring Him, present in the Most Blessed Sacrament.
The proposed Oratory includes seating in cushioned pews for about 25 adorers, a custom-designed exposition altar and monstrance (images by Granda Liturgical Arts), and a life-size statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (image by Albl Oberammergau). In addition, the new Oratory has space for another of the gifts where we encounter the merciful love of the Sacred Heart: a dedicated Confessional for the Sacrament of Penance.
The Altar Created by Granda Liturgical Arts for St. Philip, the Exposition Altar has been uniquely designed to allow exposition of the Blessed Sacrament that is both secure and worthy. The altar itself will be carved from wood and decorated with gold leaf accents. A beautifully-painted canopy rises over all to represent Heaven.
The custom, gold-plated Monstrance sits behind a tempered-glass door, allowing a full view of the Blessed Sacrament for Adoration. A second set of doors is located inside of the glass; these can be opened or shut from controls on the outside of the altar, allowing adorers to open or close the view of the Monstrance without unlocking the tabernacle.Altar by Granda Liturgical Arts
